Lifestyle Organizing - Discovering Your Life (Part 1)
By Candy Stuber
So you want to make some changes in your life for 2010? Yay! So how do you go about doing so? There are many
people willing to offer advice and suggestions as to what you need to change and how you should go about making
those changes. I can't tell you what you need to change or give you a road map with your specific
destinations. I can offer suggestions and ideas for a process that will give you the best chance of
successfully making positive change in your life.
There are a couple of factors that determine whether or not you can and will make real change in your life and
sustain it - 1) How well you know yourself, and 2) Whether or not you actually implement the steps or plan to
achieve your goals.
The best way to ensure change in your life is to first discover your "Life" style. These are things like: your
preferences, goals, habits, style, ideas, thinking patterns, and your financial status. When you put them all
together, it is your "Life" Style-In essence- Your Unique Self!
In the last article, I gave you 7 guidelines to keep in mind that will be helpful in Discovering You and
Developing Your Organizing Plan. Now, you will have an opportunity to use them to help examine various areas of
your life. Each one will help you discover useful and valuable information about yourself. This information will
enable you to reflect your true self in your unique, sustainable, organizing plan.
Let's Get Started
Know Where You Are Going.
Do you have clarity? How do you want to live your life?
-With A Purpose? -With Spiritual Guidance? -With A Giving Spirit?
-With Goals? -With Simplicity? -With A Positive Attitude?
-With Resolve? -With Conviction? -With A Healthy Mind and Body?
-With Power? -With Peace? -With Wisdom?
There are a number of words/phrases you could list here-what are yours? Have you thought or prayed about it?
Once you know these things, you can begin to set goals, make a plan, and organize your life accordingly. I will
discuss "the plan" part in the last article of this series. So don`t worry about that just yet.
Take Action!
This is where you get to use a few of the guidelines that I talked about.
While performing this action-Be Authentic, Keep an Open Mind, Make It Fun and Reward Yourself.
See guidelines.
Set aside some time to reflect. Get by yourself and have a notebook or journal with you. Now start writing!
Write: your thoughts, dreams, aspirations, qualities and traits that you like, your goals, and plans. Write how
you see yourself and your life now-your current situation/status. Don`t dwell on the negative,
just use this as a tool to provoke change. Then, write how you would like yourself and your life to
be! Note the differences!
Don't limit yourself. This is your chance to write it all down, explore new options and opportunities for real
change in your life. Don`t worry how this will fit into a plan or whether you can accomplish it. Just have fun with
it. It is refreshing and invigorating-it may give you a whole new perspective on your life. Remember to use the
guidelines...
