How Decluttering Can Be Fun
By Richard T Wayne
Clutter is mostly attracted by kids, because they are fantastic and great attractors. There is no restriction
for age limit. Kids when infants clutter the home and move around their playthings all over the house. Once these
infants outgrow you, you would then find magazines, papers, clothes and all other stuff lying around.
There are a couple of ways to explain to your children and hold them back from cluttering the house. Success is
driven by Patience and this patience plays a key role where if you can change the behaviour of your children and
stop them from cluttering up the home. There are couple of ways you could train your children for less cluttering
and change their behaviour day by day. So here is how declutter can be fun, with the kids around the house.
Being rigid and strong
You need to be strong and firm with your kids and explain to them to do things right the first time. You could
give them challenges and make deals with them to make it happen your way. You can add conditions like making their
wish list and as a reward buying them a new toy etc. You could also take their help indeed to clean the clutter and
this prevents them next time to repeat the same behaviour. In this way, they are also trained to do it themselves
in future.
Adding a thinking process
Including kinds in the decluttering process is a key step and this could happen if you allow your kids to make
self-decisions. You should not force your kids to throw things which they do not wish to throw out. The thinking
process enables all children to understand the importance and need of saving. The decluttering task with your
children should be done in a tricky manner without holding any pressures.
Limited clutter - With Kids
It's practically not possible to relate children and neatness together. With children there is bound to be some
cluttering and this behaviour will not change, no matter how much you nag them, they would not change. Also,
getting angry or upset with kids, does not help. You should not forget that de-cluttering is an ongoing process and
hence this continues from infants to teenager groups.
Make storage area available
Building up a storage area separately helps in many cases. Giving children a storage are a would help them
keeping all things in one place rather than cluttering the floor. It's just like providing them an extra space.
Once your kids have this extra space you will find your home will be less cluttered.
