7 iPhone Apps That Help Students Bounce Back From School Break
By Patrick Chukwura
Let's be frank, the holiday break was more than enjoyable without all that homework, essay writing, and note
taking - but school has returned and it's time to get back to work. I have compiled a list of 7 iPhone and iPod
Touch apps that will help any student get back into the school grove and complete the new semester
successfully!
iStudiez - Since school has started you unfortunately can't wake up and sit around in your PJ's while munching
on left over holiday food. So what is a student to do, it would be best to use iStudiez as your student planner
solution. iStudiez is an awesome inexpensive app that helps you track of your entire student life. With iStudiez
you can have access to all of your class contacts including the teacher's email for those times you need to email a
well thought absence excuse, you can track when your assignments are due, and keep track of your class times and
school holiday schedule.
iFormulas - Imagine this: you've finally pried yourself from Facebook, got your textbooks and paper ready.
You've started to do your math homework and you draw a blank on the exact formula you need to use for the problem
that doesn't have the answer in the back, just great! Now your first instinct may be to refer to the back or front
of your textbook for the formula, but iFormulas for the iPhone makes this totally unnecessary. Simply turn on your
iPhone or iPod Touch, open this app and any formula from the volume formula in Geometry to the Algebra equation of
a circle.
Symbolic Calculator - When returning from school break your mental math skills may be a little rusty, luckily
there is Symbolic Calculator. Symbolic Calculator is a little beyond the preinstalled calculator app. Although it
does handle the basic functions of the calculator app, solving algebraic equations, derivatives, and plotting is no
match for this calculator app.
The Chemical Touch - Unless you totally have to memorize the ENTIRE periodic table of elements, I would totally
get this app. The Chemical Touch is simply a digital periodic table in your pocket whenever you need. Although this
app is simple it still has the information an 'ole periodic table pro needs (if there is such thing) including the
masses, densities, and melting and boiling point of each element. If that info is not enough for you, you could
always utilize the built-in Wikipedia access to fill in the blanks.
Cram - What would your return to school be like without studying - a failure that's what. With Cram on your
iPhone or iPod Touch squeezing in those important study sessions is a breeze. Cram allows you to create, share, and
download practice tests and flashcard sets directly on your iPhone. Cram can help you study with digital flashcards
and with multiple-choice tests perfect for preparing for those pop quizzes, tests, midterms and finals, yes your
finals! Cram allows you to add images, has a huge database of premade tests, and for those that don't have a handle
on fast landscape mode typing can create the tests on their computer with Cram for Mac.
Pi Cubed Lite - I can't stand how difficult it is finding math specific apps, but Pi Cubed is surely one of them
that was well made for easily constructing mathematical expressions. Using Pi Cubed is as easy as using pencil a
pencil and paper to solve your math work. The best part about Pi Cubed Lite is that it utilizes the best features
of the iPhone and iPod Touch by letting you zoom and pan into your math work making it easy to enter and edit your
work. Now if Pi Cubed could just take the actually math tests for you...
MyGPA Calculator - You know at the end of every semester, right before you take your finals you get your handy
calculator out and desperately calculate what you need to get on your finals to achieve a certain grade which will
ultimately affect your GPA. Well, with My GPA Calculator you can calculate your GPA in a breeze and keep it on you
at all times. MyGPA Calculator allows you to manage multiple courses over multiple semesters, view your GPA
individually and overall, and change your letter grades and number of credit hours per class.
